Staycation Ideas

The Covid pandemic reminded us that there are many options for a holiday or short break in the UK. You can make that even more memorable with travel by helicopter from a location convenient to your home direct to some great parts of the country. Here are just a few ideas - we can prepare tailored quotations to suit your preferences.

Flying time from Milton Keynes area to Devon (Salcombe/Ilfracombe) is around 90 minutes - dodging the traffic jams on the M5 and A30. There are some great hotels in the area on the coast or the moors who will give you a great experience, and are happy to accept holiday landings. One of our personal favourites is the unique Burgh Island art deco hotel, as featured in the Agatha Christie TV production of ‘Murder under the Sun’. Or how about Lewtrenchard Manor, situated on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park? Approximate price each way for up to 4 passengers using our own Bell Jet Ranger helicopter would be around £2,500+VAT.

THE LAKE DISTRICT

If the Lake District is more to your taste, there are a number of great hotels on Windermere and Ullswater that welcome visitors by helicopte, around 90 minutes flying time from the Milton Keynes area, around 15 minutes longer from North London airfields such as Elstree and Denham. From North London, the one way cost would be around £2,800+VAT, but you can easily leave a London home after breakfast and be sat doiwn for lunch overlooking the lake, rather than the M6 north of Birmingham. A couple ideas for you are the Samling on Windermere or Leeming House overlooking Ullswater.

WALES

Wales offers beautiful countryside, but some challenging roads, so travelling to your hotel by helicopter makes a lot of sense. Two that we have experienced are Palé Hall near Bala and the famous Portmerion resort on the coast with it’s Italianate architecture and tropical gardens. Flying time based on a departure from the Milton Keynes area is around 75 minutes, with the one way flight to Palé Hall costing around £2,000+VAT. We can add a detour to do some aerial sight-seeing round Snowdonia at extra cost if you would like some spectacular photographs.
