Moving on up - train on our turbine helicopter
Our Bell B206B3 JetRanger is available for flight training and ratings to CAA approved training organisations. For individuals seeking training, we recommend Cranfield Helicopters as our normal partner.
If you already hold a PPL(H) licence on a piston engined helicopters suich as the Robinson R22 or R44, the minimum training mandated by the CAA to add a type rating on the B206 is 5 hours, although this should be seen as a minimum due to the need to fully master the different requirements of a turbine engine compared to a piston engine - and avoid the substantial repair costs if you get it wrong!
If you already hold a Type Rating for the B206, the minimum flight training to obtain a Night Rating is 15 hours within a 6 month period. Our B206 is fully equipped for night flights, including a belly-mounted Night Scanner 400,000 candlepower fully controllable searchlight, operated by collective mounted switches to allow the beam to be redirected easily by the pilot whilst in flight.
