Time is money - a helicopter for business travel

Every businessman finds days where you need to be in two places at the same time.  We can't achieve that, but we can get close!

As a rough guide, travelling by helicopter will take around one third of the time of the same trip by road.

Imagine if you are based in Cambridge and have a 2 hour meeting in Milton Keynes in the morning and another in Gloucester in the afternoon.  Driving yourself in a mid-range executive car, the total driving time will be 3 hours 15 minutes there, 2 hours 51 minutes back, over a total distance of 290 miles based on AA Route Planner - always assuming that there are no roadworks or accidents to delay you - and the total cost based on What Car? data of 88p/mile will be £241.  If you left Cambridge at 8am, you could schedule your first meeting for 9:30am, and the second meeting for 3pm.  You would then get back to Cambrdge around 8pm if the motorways were clear.

In our JetRanger, we could pick you up at Cambridge (the airport or an alternative site more convenient to you) at 8:45am, and still comfortably make your 9:30am appointment.  We would then be on our way again by noon, and be in Gloucester 30 minutes later, so could start the afternoon meeting at say 1:00pm.  By 3:30pm, you would be back in the air, and back in Cambridge before 4:30pm, in time for a wrap-up meeting with colleagues, a dinner with clients, or just some time with your family.  The cost for this would be around £1300 excluding VAT, for a time saving of 3-4 hours, or around £300 per hour saved compared to the cost by car.  Then take into account that you have not had the stress of dealing with traffic, and had the chance to review papers and get good quality thinking time between meetings, and the cost/benefit equation starts to look attractive.

By train, you need to plan on leaving Cambridge beforte 7am, make a total of 5 changes throughout the day, schedule the Gloucester meeting for around 4:00pm, and you will not be back in Cambridge until after 11pm.  Cost per ticket on First Class over £314.  If there were four of you, that adds up to the whole cost of the JetRanger charter.
